What is a cash book?

In a cash book you enter the opening and closing balances of your cash, as well as cash withdrawals (e.g. payment for a delivery) or deposits (e.g. change) that you make in your cash register.

Do I have to keep a cash book?

According to the Application Decree for the Fiscal Code (AEAO) § 146, paragraph 1.4, a cash book must be kept. Whether this cash book is integrated into the cash register or kept separately is not prescribed.

If you have any questions, please contact your tax advisor.
